The Libyan Women's Platform for Peace is pleased to announce the opening of Al- Wastiya Scholarship 2017-2018 at Al-Azhar University under the auspices of the Grand Sheikh AlAzhar, Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayeb.  Al-Wastiya Scholarship is an integral part of the program of ‘Fostering Wasati Islam in the Libyan Nation’.

On Tuesday August 15^th, Zahra Langhi, Founding Director of the Libyan Women's Platform for Peace met with the Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, at the Azhar headquarters to discuss the progress of the program ‘Fostering Wasati Islam in the Libyan Nation’, which was launched on the 25^th of December 2016. An agreement was made to provide fifty Libyans with  full scholarships under this program.

The Wastiya scholarship covers the full tuition fees of the study at Al-Azhar University in all fields (undergraduate and graduate studies). The grant is open to all Libyans at home and abroad. Gender, regional and cultural diversity will be taken into account. Announcement of accepted students will be made in September. The 50 scholarship winners will be given priority in all of ‘Fostering Wasati Islam in the Libyan Nation’ upcoming trainings and workshops.

The program is a partnership between the Libyan Women's Platform for Peace and the World Organization of Al-Azhar Graduates. The aim the program is to firstly support and promote peace and stability in Libya, as moderation is one of the pillars of Peace in Libya, the region and the entire Global community. Secondly, call on all components of the Libyan nation, to work on consolidation of national unity and sovereignty of the Libyan state which adopted the spirit of moderation Throughout its history, by approach and behavior. Thirdly,  activate collaboration of accredited Nation scholars to build ties of kinship, cooperation of Wasati schools accredited among Muslims under the umbrella of Al-Azhar with its leading role.
